The pipeline routes .sm and .smz through XeLaTeX, bundles every font inside the file and produces a PDF/A-friendly result that renders identically on macOS, Windows, iOS and Android with no SMath Studio dependency. How it works

Drag a .sm or .smz file (up to 50 MB) onto the upload zone. Files are encrypted in transit and deleted after processing.

Choose "PDF" in the format selector. The server renders SMath XML via XeLaTeX — typically 5–10 seconds.

Frequently asked questions
Does it work with SMath Studio Desktop and SMath Studio Mobile worksheets?
Yes. SMath Studio Desktop and Mobile both save files in the same .sm (XML) or .smz (compressed XML) format. The converter handles both without distinction.
Are SMath Studio plots preserved in the PDF output?
Plots described in the .sm XML structure are rendered and included in the PDF. Embedded raster images, if present, are also transferred to the output document.
Do I need a SMath Studio license or account to use the converter?
No. The converter runs server-side and is fully anonymous. SMath Studio is not required on your device — just a browser and a .sm or .smz file.
Are fonts embedded in the PDF output?
Yes. XeLaTeX embeds all used fonts, including mathematical symbols. The PDF opens correctly in any viewer without additional fonts.
